Author Biography

PAI KIT FAI, who was born in England, worked as a merchant marine, a writer, and a creative director for an advertising agency before marrying into one of Hong Kong's founding Eurasian families. He was given his Chinese name, which translates as Master of Words or Man of Letters, by his wife's aunt, a noted educator.  While living in Hong Kong, he developed a deep interest in Chinese martial arts and their interaction with traditional medicine; he has trained extensively and published successful nonfiction books on these subjects, and draws on that background throughout The Concubine's Daughter. He currently lives in Sydney, Australia.
