Summary

Pulp magazines were king of popular culture. Comic books in the mid to late 30s were reprinting comic strips. Along comes Harry Donenfeld who has made his fortune selling girlie pulps, as well as an assortment of pulp titles like SPICY MYSTERY STORIES, SPICY DETECTIVE STORIES, PRIVATE DETECTIVE STORIES and introduces his first combination pulp/comic in DON WINSLOW OF THE NAVY. Donenfeld would later go on to much greater fame and riches being the publisher of SUPERMAN, BATMAN and a whole stable of comic superheroes. Yet DON WINSLOW in his first foray into the just burgeoning field of comic publishing.
